If you have Nokia 5230 and you wish to check whether a new firmware is available for your phone, go to Menu>Applications>Tools>SW update. Yesterday i checked and found that an updated firmware v12.0.089 is available
Over the air (OTA) update is currently not available so you have to update Nopkia 5230 firmware via PC suite. As the 5230 sales package differs region wise, there may be no USB data cable in your sales package, in that case you need to purchase Nokia CA-101 USB cable to update the firmware. After installing Nokia 5230 PC suite in your computer, attach your phone via USB cable and select PC suite mode.
Now if you will type *#0000# on your phone’s homescreen, it will show you the updated firmware version 12.0.089.
